Scuba Diving Magazine's Readers’ Favorite Awards have been announced. The awards are a way for readers to vote for their favorite dive destinations. This year, Aggressor Adventures, a dive center on the Bahamas, took home 79 awards, a 34-award lead over the runner-up. Readers can vote online to choose their favorite dive locations and sites.
Bonaire ranked 2nd in Advanced Diving.
Scuba Diving Magazine readers named Bonaire as a top Caribbean/Atlantic diving destination for fifth consecutive year. Bonaire won Best Shore Diving Destination and was also honored in the categories Best Underwater Photography (Best Visibility), and Best Advanced Diving. The magazine's November 20,21 issue will feature the awards as voted by readers.
Visitors to Bonaire can take advantage of the island's hiking trails and bike trails. You can even see flamingos in a national park. The island has its own water filtering system that makes tap water safe. The island had 114 nests of healthy turtles in 2016. This was the highest number ever recorded during a single nesting season.

The island's fringing reef runs parallel to its leeward shore, making it easy to access dive sites. Visibility is up to 80 feet/100 metres due to the reef's shallowness and warmth.
