Two separate parts of a scuba helmet are the backplate (wing) and the wing (wing). Both pieces are attached to a buoyancy compensator that establishes neutral buoyancy underwater and positive buoyancy on the surface. Each component can be separated from the other. Backplate and wings are modular systems. They are a good choice for divers not sure which type of scuba diving equipment to purchase. Listed below are pros and cons of each.
Stainless steel
You can have your stainless steel wings or back plate with or without a belt. Backplate and wings made from 316 stainless-steel are highly resistant to saltwater. It is cut with a CNC machine and polished manually to avoid sharp edges that can prematurely wear the strap. They can also be used in conjunction with single-air-tank or dual air-tank systems. To make storage easier, you can take off the wings and backplate made of stainless steel.

Backplates made of stainless steel are more heavy than those made from aluminium. Stainless steel backupplates are perfect for colder environments, as they'll help reduce the weight of your diving gear. Unlike lead pieces, stainless steel backplates are easy to adjust to fit most dive tanks. A Halcyon Dealer is able to provide weighting advice and help you decide what weight suits your body. This backplate is also more durable, so it doesn't require as frequent replacement.
Plastic
Although the plastic back plate/wing buoyancy is not ideal, it can still be useful for replacing weight on the weight belt. Jacket BCDs also have features such as pockets and weight integration. The wing and backplate do not have these ancillary functions. These components can be ordered separately. Both are available separately. We'll discuss the pros and con of each. It is important to choose the right back plate for you.
Softpack harness
There are many kinds of harnesses, both for wings or backplate. Backplates, wing BCDs, and the most common are both available. They contain all the essential components like a harness, backplate and wing. The user can customize the harness by adding a variety of adjustable features. Softpack BCDs can be used by technical divers because they are lightweight and flexible, and don't attach to any rigid plates.

Steel backplate harnesses lack adaptability. The harness cannot be used with single tanks. It's only designed for use with double tanks that have permanent bands. Although the steel harness is the strongest option, it is cumbersome to use while traveling. This steel harness can only be used with double tanks. The steel backplate is also not recommended for use on the land. It can be converted to work with single tanks by attaching adapters, but this is not recommended.
