Diving As a Sport

It is a sport that requires preparation. These are some tips that you should keep in mind when starting out. Find out about the risks of back injuries, and how to prepare yourself for the sport. Check out the PADI or SSI diving guidelines. You can have a rewarding and thrilling experience by following the rules.

Diverse scuba diving is a great sport

Diverse divers are a popular activity for many reasons. Many find the experience relaxing and therapeutic, thanks to weightlessness, fish and the ocean. No matter what level of experience you have, diving can be enjoyed by all.

USA Diving's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council, which includes athletes, coaches, and thought-leaders, will work to promote diversity. It will be a key player in the inclusion of diverse athletes as well as staff, and provide opportunities for staff to grow.

Preparation for diving as an activity

Divers diving is for many more than a hobby. Competitors must have a number of skills to win. To qualify for the competition, divers will have to do somersaults or twists. There are a number of different ways to prepare for a meet, including learning about the sport's rules and regulations and using performance scientists and coaches.

You should practice. A lot of energy is required to dive. An hour of diving can burn around 500 calories. That's the equivalent of 50 minutes of running, jogging, or cycling. Avoid eating empty stomachs and avoid eating fatty meals while diving. You will feel very dehydrated during a dive. It is important to drink plenty of water. Your body's physiological functions can be altered by diving, which can cause a drop in blood pressure, increased heart beat, and the irrepressible urge to "pee".

Dangers of back injuries

The back injury is the most common type of injury that can happen when you dive. During a dive, your body enters the pool at about 15 feet per second, and any impact on an object or obstruction can damage spinal cord tissue. You may also be able to twist your spine and neck too far, which could cause injury to nerves and ligaments.

Depending on the severity of your back injury, you can reduce your risk of suffering a back injury by carefully adjusting your weight distribution. Placing your weights near the front of your weight belt can help to reduce the pressure on your lower back. You can also place the weights in the tank or in a pocket of your BCD.

PADI and SSSI diving certifications

You will likely be able find several training agencies if your goal is to learn to dive. You can choose which agency to go with, but it is up to your preference. This could have a significant impact on the course of your diving career. You may want to make the switch to a PADI affiliated dive center if you dive with an SSI affiliate. You'll also learn from friends who are BSAC certified.

Although SSI is growing steadily over the last few decades, it will still take years for it to surpass PADI in size. It has however made an important push into the online certification market. It now offers an app which allows divers to log their dives, access course materials and view their certifications. While the app is similar to PADI Dive Explorer's, there are some significant differences.
